In USA, (in general) in what year-level do you study mitosis, calculus, and the mole (chem)?

In the book "Twilight" they are studying mitosis when the character is 17. At my school (Australia) we did that in year 9 (around 14years old). Is the book wrong, or do you actually not study it till then? As for calculus and the mole, i was just curious...
