Is it dangerous to have water leaking through the light fixture?

I live in denver, colorado where it is currently snowing and raining at the same time. Its been this way for two days now, and we have a flat roof, but have never had any leaking problems for years. A few minutes ago, I noticed the ceiling light fixture in the hallway steadily dripping water onto the floor. Is this really bad? I haven't turned on the light, but I'm worried about the entire electrical system and I'm wondering if It should be professionally looked at after this, and if the light will stop working now, after it's dry? I have unplugged both my computers just in case...
