Who has the best waterproof fabrics? Is Gore-Tex the best?

I was wondering which outerware company has the best, most waterproof fabrics for snow(boarding) outerware? I've been looking into Marmot, Arcteryx, Burton, etc, and they all seem to have their own lamination in addition to offering separate GoreTex products. Spyder, which makes extremely expensive jackets, doesn not offer GoreTex at all. Is the GoreTex the best technology? Any insight into high end waterproof fabric will be very helpful. Thanks!
